Health Services
Nurses are available in all buildings and help promote a safe and healthy learning environment.
Sick Guidelines
If your student is feeling sick, we encourage you to look at the following guidelines:
Please come to school if they...
- Have a runny nose or a little cough, but no other symptoms
- Have not had a fever of 100 degrees or higher in the last 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine
- Have not thrown up or had diarrhea for 24 hours
Please stay at home if they...
- Have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher (without or without medicine)
- Have a persistent cough
- Are throwing up or have diarrhea
- Their eyes are pink or crusty
- Have been instructed by a doctor to isolate from others
Immunizations
The State of Missouri requires immunizations to attend school. Nurses review immunization records to make sure records are compliant with the Missouri Requirements and Bayless Board Policy.
Forms for exemptions to immunization requirements can also be found on the Missouri Requirements webpage.
Chronic Conditions
If your student has a chronic condition such as a Food Allergy, Asthma, Diabetes or seizures, you must provide an updated Action Plan and Emergency Medications. The plans are to be sent to your building's nurse by fax or email. The medications must be brought to the school office by a parent of guardian — not by the student.
Medicine
The following over the counter medications can be given to students with parent permission provided during registration or completion of the Annual Update.
